The merge moves Ethereum from the Proof of Work mechanism to proof of stake. It simply means that consensus will be done through staking. Validators will need to stake Ethereum to validate transactions on the network. This means that Ethereum will consume less electricity. Way way less. About 90%+ less. This is in line with the ESG conversation, right? An implication is that institutional adoption will be on the horizon for Ether.
